Since its inception in 2007, Gizmox has been working towards the release of its fully featured Visual WebGui (VWG) version. Up until this release of 6.4 Gizmox has released 6 major versions and with this version Gizmox is delivering on the VWG promise to enable a full cycle of rapid development of enterprise level data-intensive Ajax application. “VWG was designed to solve what might be the most painful issues for enterprise IT; reproducing client/server richness and user experience on Web and Cloud, in a simple cost effective way and with standard Web, no-plug-in accessibility and absolutely secured end point. We took upon ourselves one of the most ambitious missions, one that the big software players could not solve,” says Navot Peled, Gizmox CEO and adds “The goal was to create an end-to-end Web and Cloud solution that simplifies enterprise Ajax development experience to a VB6 level using Ajax methodologies to reproduce client/server richness and user experience on Web while enabling absolutely unhackable Ajax UI and one that also enables creative UI designs without the need to struggle with complex HTML, JavaScript and CSS styling. We wanted to make developers really feel at home, so we decided to expose 2 basic development experiences: one that leverages desktop developers’ skills, providing Form based VB6-like development experience and one that leverages web developers’ skills, with declarative XAML experience. The first one we call VWG application and the second is VWG sites. Visual WebGui 6.4 is the first version to fully deliver on that promise.” VWG has been collecting awards on its innovative approach and achievements, as well as rewarded with developers and enterprises responses and feedbacks
“Nokia’s smartphone market share has declined from 68.5 percent in mid-2007 to 44.3 percent by the first quarter of 2010″, reported Kevin Tofel on GigaOM, and reportedly seeking a new CEO according to many news sources. The mobile platforms market is getting hot after iPhone, Android, and WebOS, the competition entered a crucial stage and left Nokia with Symbian behind. This week Nitobi and Symbian announced at Oscon their partnership to simplify mobile application development by integrating Symbian’s web application creation tools and Nitobi’s PhoneGap. PhoneGap will now be included as part of the web extensions package in the Symbian^3 platform. With both of these developments in place, any web developer who knows HTML, CSS and JavaScript can now write a mobile application once and deploy it across multiple operating systems and devices. In addition, developers can access native device capabilities such as telephony, contacts, camera, accelerometers, orientation and location that can be modified or enhanced to improve the end user experience and device functionality.

Today I was looking for a way to backup my Google Documents, not just having an offline copy, and after few googling (in my reader also) I found the solution in a PHP script that Ilia published about one month ago under a BSD license. From the blog post : It’s “a small (120 lines) PHP script that will retrieve all your Google documents and save them to a local directory, in the event the document was created/updated in the last 24 hours, thus ensuring snapshot support. Each file name is prefixed with Ymd (Year, month, day) prefix to ensure name uniqueness and provides an easy way to spot similar files or files that were created/updated on the same day.” Only cURL and Simplexml extensions are required, which most PHP 5.0+ installs should have. The latest update allow to save each day backup in a separate directory in addition to Zip compression if the extension is loaded.
